A lovely illustrated, but technically half-baked app.
A Day At The Circus is a lovely illustrated but technically half-baked app. It offers diverse mini games, which need to be unlocked by fulfilling tasks. First the kids need to touch glowing objects in the dark. Afterwards they can choose out of three mini games: 1. Drumming, 2. Playing the flute or 3. Guiding a snake through a labyrinth. In addition to that, they can turn to the next page. There will be waiting a complicated – with turning pieces - puzzle. Finally they need to find matching cards within a memory - some of the illustrations differ just in little details, that is why it might be challenging for younger children - to unlock another three mini games: 1. Feed an elephant, 2. Balance a ball through a labyrinth or 3. Create your own clown. After completing one game, the children will hear a cheer which will be fade in as well. Unfortunately there are a lot of technical problems. First, it takes a long time to start the app and to open up the different games. In addition to that, writings - such as 'good job' - do not vanish when starting a new game. The single writings interfere with each other. Further, the narrators voice seems to be very unemotional and cold.
